We’re celebrating it the way the natives do this year:
Hamburgers and chips
Crowds
Sun
Running kids
Blankets on the grass
Sparklers
The smells of beer and bug spray
Vuvuzellas(!)
Ice cream
Whistling firecrackers from the neighbourhood
Smiling faces
Lines for the porta potties
Glow sticks
Insect repellant
Dusk…
…and finally what we’ve all been waiting for…
Happy fourth!

Sounds something like our July 1st 🙂 Were the kids ecstatic? I can just see their awe-filled faces. Did they know that it was their cousin’s birthday they were celebrating? mom
