Can you beleive it? I can’t even find frozen cranberries in my online grocery store! Don’t they know it’s American Thanksgiving!?!

Today we looked up how to vote in the upcoming U.S. elections. For the rest of our American expat readers, here’s how you can get ready for this November too!
You vote in the county where you last lived in the U.S., but each county has different rules. Fortunately someone has done all the work for us to figure out what rules apply, making the process fairly simple.
- Go to VoteFromAbroad.org.
- Fill in some simple information about yourself, including the last address you had in the U.S. (That was pretty tough actually! It took a lot of research to jog our memories enough to put in at least a partial address.)
- They ask for only the information required by your county.
- In the end you get 9 pages to print out, including a one-page form you have to mail in (already filled in for you).
- Sign the form, put it in an envelope, write in the address they give you, and drop it in the mail.
If you have not received your ballot by October 20, the other pages you printed out include an additional form letting you vote without a ballot.

And yes, all conditions removed from the purchase too. We’ve got somewhere to move into!
Moving Month is June. You’re all welcome. Bring work gloves.

Hurry, where’s the horse ?
August 3, 2007
These trees, planted by Pa, did last a hundred years. The 6 he planted right in front of their shanty (as told in the books) did not last or maybe never were planted there.
Riding on the horse drawn wagon, Kenan got a chance to drive Barnum and Skip. (Dad, my Dad Golub, if you remember the books I know you will ask the same question I did: Are Barnum and Skip original or reproductions?)
They made corn cob dolls and their own rope.
Shana’s corb cob doll is named Susie, sort of after her Aunt Susie and Laura’s corn cob doll named Susasn, after Black Susan her cat.
Kitties in the attic of the barn.
Lost in the slough grass. Slough rhymes with blue. It’s a marshy wet area with tall, thick grass.
Slough grass model.
It was actually taller than Nate’s head! Laura got lost in the slough grass with Carrie and wandered around for hours, hot and sweaty, until they saw Almanzo atop his hay wagon and found their way out.
View from the horse drawn wagon. At the Ingalls Homestead it takes you to the schoolhouse.
Making rope. One person pulls hard….
One person walks along with a contraption that winds and twists the rope…
And another person turns the crank. Your own rope!
Is Almanzo coming with his buggy?

Keep forgetting to check for changes to this (or any) blog? I’ve added a link in the sidebar on the right (“Subscribe to The Twizzler“) with simple instructions for several ways to be notified any time the blog changes.

Even though it says “’til morning is night”, my teacher says it means “’til morning”.

Have you been reading Anousheh Ansari’s blog by any chance? I just discovered it. She’s a good writer, and it’s fascinating to imagine what she’s experiencing.
(For those of you who don’t recognize the name, Anousheh is an Iranian-American who has paid her own way to the space station. She is blogging from space, and has only a couple more days up there before the return voyage.)

It’s 3 am. Take that fact and the title, and I leave the rest to your imagination. I’ll spare you the pictures.
Amazingly (thank God!) Kenan is still asleep.
Amazingly I kept my own stomach contents down while cleaning up Shana’s.
Ah well, I guess this is what turns me into a man!
Now to try to get some sleep before it’s time to get up.
